Rewellme app: reset your mindset

Hello, I'm Andrew Belaveshkin , MD PhD, and creator of  Rewellme app ( AppStore , GooglePlay or Web ):   an evidence-based approach to psychotherapy and mental health based on visual metaphors, mental contrasting, and a card system. Having worked with patients in the field of preventive medicine and healthy lifestyles for a long time, I noticed that the biggest problem is not a lack of knowledge. People already know very well what is useful and what is harmful. The problem is the gap between knowledge and intention. Of course, some manage to jump over this gap by force of will, find themselves in a favorable environment, and have inspiring examples before their eyes. But for many people this is a difficult task.   How to make it easier? I have always thought about this for a long time and looked for answers from experts and scientific research. How to create motivation? I noticed that metaphors are very effective. A well-chosen comparison, metaphor, c...

Coping cards + Art metaphors

Create Rewellme card using art as metaphor.

For example, as shown, combine coping maps and photographs of statues that express doom and strength. The image greatly enhances the verbal contrast. You can draw yourself – and then creatively transform your problem and make a card in Rewellme.

Indeed, research shows that many manifestations of spontaneity, such as expressive writing, music, dance, and art therapy (visual arts), improve a person's overall condition, increase stress resistance, and reduce cortisol levels.

Although art therapy is often considered "sublimation," I think it is better perceived as an exploratory activity. Under stress, the choice is limited: either learned helplessness or exploratory activity. Anything that stimulates new kinds of activities is beneficial.

Art therapy is an excellent non-competitive activity that increases the activity of the cingulate gyrus and reduces rumination. It improves concentration, helps resolve intrapersonal conflicts, and enables change in habitual behavioral patterns. Whether it’s composing, drawing, or playing instruments – everything works great, even if you are at a fairly mediocre level.
So there's no need to worry about that. And if you don't want to do it yourself, immerse yourself in the art world and find paintings and sculptures that express precisely what you feel. Use these images and photos to create a new map.

Therefore, if you feel stressed, engage in creativity or express spontaneity in any way. It takes just 45 minutes to reduce cortisol levels. Use different methods; reviews highlight Creative Arts Therapies (CATs), Music Therapy (MT), Art Therapy (AT), Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT), Drama Therapy (DT) as among the most effective. For us now, with children, drama – expressive role-playing and plots, from kittens to transformers – works best.
